Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Eagles vs. Chaparral Wolverines

Heritage hasn't had much luck against Chaparral recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Heritage Eagles will head out to challenge the Chaparral Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Heritage will bounce into Friday's game after beating Highlands Ranch, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Heritage came out on top against Highlands Ranch by a score of 68-60 on Tuesday.

Heritage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Chaney, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Chaney a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Charlie Gilloth, who went 5 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Chaparral entered their tilt with Horizon on Wednesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They enjoyed a cozy 84-69 win over the Hawks.

Chaparral's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Heritage, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Heritage might still be hurting after the 66-45 loss they got from Chaparral in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Heritage avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
