Even though the Mulberry Panthers have not done well against the Bartow Yellow Jackets recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mulberry walked away with a 55-42 victory over Bartow. For Mulberry, this counts as revenge for the 41-21 loss Bartow walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.
Lorianys Castanon Cruz was her usual excellent self, scoring 40 points along with nine steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mulberry's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Standifer, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Mulberry has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Bartow, they bumped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mulberry will challenge Hardee at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bartow, they will head out on the road to face off against George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
