The Salisbury Township Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Saucon Valley Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Salisbury Township took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Catasauqua as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Salisbury Township got a massive performance out of Leilanna Negron, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was Negron's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Amelia Swoyer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.
Salisbury Township was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catasauqua only posted a batting average of .211.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saucon Valley). They put the hurt on Louis E. Dieruff with a sharp 16-1 win on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Eliza Sullivan and Ryan Gall did most of the damage at the plate: Sullivan went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Gall went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Sullivan a new career-high. Cassidy Ash was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Saucon Valley pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Salisbury Township, their record is now 8-9-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Salisbury Township has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saucon Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Salisbury Township came out on top in a nail-biter against Saucon Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
