The First Academy Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 59-27 win over Crooms Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win First Academy has posted since January 4th.
First Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlyn Neiford, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Neiford pulled down eight or more rebounds. Molly Beliveau was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Crooms Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erin Hassaballah, who scored 11 points. That was a full 40.7% of Crooms Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zoe Fulgencio, who scored nine points.
First Academy now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Crooms Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Academy will square off against Oasis Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oasis Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday. As for Crooms Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Liberty Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
