Baseball Game Preview: LaBrae Vikings vs. Southeast Pirates

The LaBrae Vikings will face off against the Southeast Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

LaBrae's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Heartland Christian with a sharp 7-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Austin Rowe made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because LaBrae is 8-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Rowe was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Nathan Goldner was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Brunstetter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

LaBrae was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heartland Christian only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, Southeast got the win against East on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-2.

Southeast is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for LaBrae, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

LaBrae beat Southeast 7-3 in their previous matchup on Monday. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
