Allegheny Mountain - Northern recap September 4, 2013
Smethport moved up to 410 from 505 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Allegheny Mountain - Northern. The Hubbers climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Elk County Catholic 28-21.
Sheffield fell to Kane 34-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Ethan Hite put up the best numbers in passing as Coudersport fell to Curwensville. He finished with 9 completions for 111 yards.
Tyler Shaffer was a passing and rushing force as Port Allegany fell to Athens. Shaffer's key target this week was Cory Burr, who caught 7 passes for 111 yards.
Burr was the best wideout in the league this week as the Gators lost to the Wildcats. Chris Lashway helped Port Allegany's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 29 yards.
Shaffer was the best running back in the league this week. In 5 carries, he ran for 166 yards as Port Allegany fell to Athens. Rick Veilleux also contributed to the rushing game with 32 yards on the ground.
Smethport made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,241 from 11,578. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-21 victory over the Crusaders last week.
