Fairborn is 2-8 against Butler since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fairborn Skyhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Butler Aviators at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fairborn posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past West Carrollton 62-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fairborn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taiyou Williams out in front who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sean Townsend, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Butler had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 48-36 win over Greenville on Tuesday. The victory was just what Butler needed coming off of a 74-41 defeat in their prior match.
Fairborn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Butler, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Fairborn lost to Butler on the road by a decisive 47-30 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Fairborn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
