There's no place like home for the Mt. Rainier Rams, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They secured a 50-45 W over Kennedy Catholic on Thursday. For Mt. Rainier, this counts as revenge for the 74-57 loss Kennedy Catholic walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Mt. Rainier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zach Luz led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Luz has scored at least a third of Mt. Rainier's points. Mason Emil was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Mt. Rainier has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Kennedy Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Mt. Rainier will head out on the road to square off against Federal Way at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Federal Way knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully Mt. Rainier likes a good challenge. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum] at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
