The Olympus Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Jordan Beetdiggers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Olympus has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Titans on Thursday. Olympus lost 14-3 to Syracuse. Olympus has struggled against Syracuse recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Olympus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Stern, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jordan). Everything went their way against Park City on Thursday as they made off with a 17-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Beetdiggers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Kimani Archibeque was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Elinor Williams was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zya Samora, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Jordan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Park City only posted an OBP of .200.
Jordan's record is now 4-2. As for Olympus, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Olympus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Jordan struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
