Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Charleston Math & Science). They blew past the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks 21-12 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Riptide brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Yohan Tolentino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Tolentino was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Tolentino wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Esparza, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. JD Marchant was another, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Charleston Math & Science's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1. As for Bethune-Bowman, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Charleston Math & Science is set to square off against their familiar foe Scott's Branch at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bethune-Bowman will face off against rival Baptist Hill at 5:30 p.m. on the 14th.
