The New Hanover Wildcats put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Topsail with a 56-52 win. Given New Hanover's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Topsail is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Hanover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brianna Stanley led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Iyana Rogers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals and five assists.
New Hanover's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Topsail, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Hanover will be home for the holidays to greet South Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Topsail, they will stay at home for another game and welcome North Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
