College Park hasn't had much luck against Oak Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The College Park Cavaliers will welcome the Oak Ridge War Eagles at 12:30 p.m.
Last Wednesday, College Park was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-40 to Conroe.
Despite the loss, College Park saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Valentina Campos went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Gretchen Wright, who posted six points.
Meanwhile, Oak Ridge blew past Cleveland, posting a 50-18 victory. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while the Indians are ranked 1387th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
College Park better keep an eye on Jordan Daigle. She was instrumental in Oak Ridge's win, going 12 of 18 on her way to 24 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Daigle a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Jameson, who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.
Oak Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.
Oak Ridge now has a winning record of 15-14. As for College Park, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: College Park has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Oak Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
College Park beat Oak Ridge 44-35 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Does College Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
