The Mt. Carmel Sundevils lost against the Mission Hills Grizzlies back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mt. Carmel's2023 ended with a 58-39 loss against Mission Hills. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while Mission Hills is ranked 170th).
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Gianni Bernabe, who scored eight points. Erias Bandoy was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Mission Hills, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel and Cathedral Catholic will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cathedral Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 526 points over their last seven games. As for Mission Hills, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Otay Ranch at 6:00 p.m.
