Having just played yesterday, the Plainview Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Plainview will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Even though Plainview has not done well against Stanton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Plainview strolled past Stanton with points to spare, taking the game 43-29.
Plainview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbie Kromarek out in front who scored 15 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kromarek has scored at least a third of Plainview's points. Teya Boyer was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Hartington-Newcastle only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point they dealt Winside on January 5th. Hartington-Newcastle breezed by Winside at home to the tune of 52-19. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hartington-Newcastle.
Plainview has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Plainview came up short against Hartington-Newcastle when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 47-41. Can Plainview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
