The Drew Dragons will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Leland Chargers at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Drew focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday.
Last Saturday, Drew came up short against Eastside College Prep and fell 48-36.
Despite the defeat, Drew had strong showings from Charlie Leu, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, and Teo Kimball-Directo, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Kimball-Directo scored a full 44.4% of Drew's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Leland came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Lincoln by a score of 48-40. That's two games straight that Leland has won by exactly eight points.
Drew has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Leland, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Drew couldn't quite finish off Leland in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 39-37. Can Drew avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
