The Lake Creek Lions will head out on the road to square off against the College Station Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Creek has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 822 points over their last 12 games.
On Tuesday, Lake Creek beat Rudder 60-53. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Rudder is ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aedan Lewis out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jett Sutton, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, College Station came up short against Brenham on Tuesday and fell 41-34.
Lake Creek pushed their record up to 24-8 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for College Station, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season.
Lake Creek strolled past College Station in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 63-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
