Despite the loss, Athens still got an impressive performance from Heath Tigges, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tigges has scored all season.
Colon was led to victory by Dalton Williams and Maverick Downs. Williams shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Downs scored 17 points along with seven assists and six steals. Downs hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Mock, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Athens' loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.2 points per game. As for Colon, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will take on Climax-Scotts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Climax-Scotts is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Colon, they will be playing at home against St. Philip Catholic Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
