It was a good run, but The San Benito Greyhounds unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Weslaco 27-21. San Benito gained 66 more yards on the day, but it was Weslaco that made the best of use of them.
Despite the loss, San Benito still got an impressive performance from Fabian Garcia, who rushed for 206 yards. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Weslaco's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andres Sepulveda, who threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Elias Rodriguez jr also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.
San Benito's loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Weslaco, their victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0.
San Benito will face off against Edinburg North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edinburg North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 863rd, while San Benito is ranked 265th). As for Weslaco, they will face off against Mission at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
