Mid-State - South recap Oct. 3, 2012
Carson City-Crystal moved up to 319 from 385 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mid-State - South. The Eagles were able to make the jump by beating Montabella 48-6.
Sacred Heart Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Vestaburg, 42-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Irish.
The Mustangs' dynamic duo of Brady Burggren and Landen Burns proved tough for Carson City-Crystal to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Burggren threw for 204 yards and one touchdown and Burns had 88 yards receiving. Zach Taubitz helped Montabella's passing attack out by catching six balls for 46 yards.
Tim Anderson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 215 yards on 22 carries as Coleman fell to Jason Gray's team. Dominic Pnacek also contributed to the rushing game with 24 yards on the ground.
Sacred Heart Academy's Mitch Myler and Dustin Neyer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mid-State - South in both passing and receiving yards. Myler has thrown for 1276 yards this season, while Neyer, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 24 catches for 464 yards. Anderson from the Comets leads the league in rushing with 1043 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sacred Heart Academy takes on second place Carson City-Crystal. Rick Roberts's team beat the Wolverines last week, while the Eagles topped David Clay's team.
Coleman took down Ashley 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Anderson in the win.
