Athens is 1-6 against Auburn since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Athens took a loss when they played away from home back in March, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Lincolnwood. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Isabel Ingram 2026 made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Ingram 2026 was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Athens let Aubrey Crispen 2027 and Preslie Buckmaster 2027 run wild. Crispen 2027 scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Buckmaster 2027 went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Derringer 2027, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Auburn had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 5-3.
Meena Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Taylor Patterson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Piper Taylor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
The victory got Athens back to even at 1-1. As for Auburn, their record now sits at 7-1.
Athens might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Auburn when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
