Baseball Recap: Somers Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Somers's win against Ellington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Knights 2-1 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three games in a row.

Brodie White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Somers' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Czerwinski, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Somers pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Ellington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Somers is set to square off against their familiar foe Granby Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Ellington will take on rival East Windsor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
