After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Robertsdale, the Chickasaw Chieftains were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past St. Luke's Episcopal with a 60-55 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Chickasaw found their leader in underclassman Sydrus Gilmore, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Gilmore hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was JaVon Mose, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Chickasaw's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for St. Luke's Episcopal, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chickasaw will take on Washington County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for St. Luke's Episcopal, they will head out on the road to face off against Blacksher at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
