The Wingfield Falcons can finally bid farewell to their 18-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-43 win over Richland. That looming 54-43 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Wingfield yet this season.
Martavius Bennett was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tyler Arrington, who scored 18 points.
Wingfield's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-16. As for Richland, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wingfield will take on Lawrence County at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Richland, they will head out on the road to face off against Lanier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
