Starpoint fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Depew on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 10-9.
Lily Lalka was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Morgan Neal was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Williamsville South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over West Seneca East on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Billies in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.
Kate Budzinski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Williamsville South let Bri Johnson and Autumn Bing run wild. Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Bing went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noelle Jurkowski, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Williamsville South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Starpoint's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Williamsville South, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
