In what's become a running theme this season, the Notre Dame Prep Saints gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by Desert Mountain at home to the tune of 83-17. The victory was nothing new for Notre Dame Prep as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Notre Dame Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Frankel led the charge by scoring 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Frankel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ava Pautz, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Desert Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nicolette Kelly, who scored ten points. That was a full 58.8% of Desert Mountain's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Notre Dame Prep's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Desert Mountain, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Cactus Shadows will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Notre Dame Prep is ranked 20th). Desert Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
