Chilton County has gone a perfect 7-0 against Pelham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Chilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Chilton County will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Oak Mountain, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. Chilton County skirted past Oak Mountain 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Kaylee Dunn made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Dunn was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Macey Pierce was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Lily Benson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pelham). They put the hurt on Homewood with a sharp 15-3 victory on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Like Chilton County, Pelham also got a great game from a two-way player: Jordan Young. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits Young has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laini Stewart, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Roy, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Pelham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homewood onlymanaged four hits.
Chilton County's record is now 6-3-1. As for Pelham, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chilton County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having got 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Pelham struggles in that department as they've got 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
