Dobyns-Bennett (Kingsport, Tenn.) to a 73-0 victory over David Crockett (Jonesborough, Tenn.) on Saturday as the return units contributed two touchdowns. The Indians's special teams scored on a kick return and a punt return.
Dobyns-Bennett was up 59-0 at the half after taking the lead on a kick return touchdown by
Malik Foreman in the first quarter.
Even though DB led by 59 points entering the fourth quarter, it poured the points on, scoring 14 in the fourth.
The Kingsport school's standout player in the win was
Devaun Swafford. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The Indians came into the game allowing 12.5 points per game. The Pioneers' zero points were well below their season average of 15.0 per game.
A 56-7 Dobyns-Bennett victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
Dobyns-Bennett (7-0) goes up against Tennessee in a AAA District 1 game matchup next week, while David Crockett (2-5) locks horns with Sullivan South also in a AAA District 1 game.
