Basketball Recap: Galena Park Skates Past Milby with Ease

Galena Park won the last time they faced Milby and things went their way on Monday too. The Galena Park Yellowjackets claimed a resounding 52-25 win over the Milby Buffs. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Galena Park was led to victory by Rebecca Torres and Savannah Roberts. Torres almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Roberts posted 11 points along with eight boards and six steals. That's the most rebounds Torres has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Cailin Fountain, who scored nine points and five steals.

Galena Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Galena Park's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Milby, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galena Park will welcome Spring Woods at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spring Woods will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Galena Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Milby, they will host Westbury at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
