Softball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Frankie Jackson and Kate Murray Lead Fishers to Victory

Fishers's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Carmel Greyhounds get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Kate Murray and Frankie Jackson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Murray tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jackson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Murray got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Jackson went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Murray a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fishers let Brooke Clayton and Hailey Kinder run wild. Clayton went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Kinder went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Clayton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Shockley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Fishers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fishers' record now sits at 12-7. As for Carmel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's still a better percentage than their 5-16 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fishers will take on Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flashes will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carmel, they will face off against Terre Haute North Vigo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
