The Lake Central Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Hanover Central Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Lake Central beats Hanover Central with 12 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Lake Central never let Portage get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lake Central.

Maddie Such looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jessy Del Toro was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Tegan Tripp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Lake Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portage only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Hanover Central waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 13-2 victory.
Sienna Stilley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Oostman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Lake Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hanover Central, their record now sits at 10-7.
Lake Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hanover Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Central continue to outrun the ball?
Lake Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Hanover Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
