Kolt Moreland and Ramon Arguellas provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Greenwood. The longest such play in 2A-1 Region I District 2 this season, the connection resulted in 74 yards.
Slaton moved up to 524 from 663 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of a 30-6 win over Dimmitt.
Lamesa's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Moreland threw for 361 and three touchdowns and Brody Alexandar had 147 yards receiving. On the ground Kendrick Hunter chipped in 64 yards. Ryan Garza helped Lamesa's passing attack out by catching six balls for 138 yards.
The Tornadoes' Moreland and Alexandar have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moreland has thrown for 1722 yards this season, while Alexandar has 36 catches for 636 yards. Koal Houchin from Idalou leads the league in rushing with 523 yards.
Denver City and Post played the most hotly contested game in 2A-1 Region I District 2 this week, with Denver City eventually emerging with a 35-32 victory.
