The Laton Mustangs's game on Monday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Riverdale Christian 38-34. Laton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riverdale Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Laton still got an impressive performance from Mario Chavez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chavez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yann Jimenez, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Riverdale Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Calvin Bohannan, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Aaron Norris was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Laton's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-15. As for Riverdale Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.
Laton will head out on the road to take on Alpaugh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Laton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday. As for Riverdale Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
