Given Gaffney's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Boiling Springs is ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
James F. Byrnes' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7. As for Gaffney, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
