The Cowan Blackhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Knightstown. Cowan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Knightstown apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Blackhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savannah Hall, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Davelynn Lindsay, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Knightstown found their leader in underclassman Lilly Drew, who scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks. Anna Roberson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Cowan dropped their record down to 3-16 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.8 points per game. As for Knightstown, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13.
Cowan will head out on the road to face off against Southern Wells at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Knightstown, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Morristown at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Morristown is ranked 292nd, while Knightstown is ranked 305th).
