The Mingus Marauders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 72-51 defeat at the hands of Coconino. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Mingus has suffered against Coconino since February 4, 2020.
Mingus' loss came despite strong showings from Ricky Villalobos and Ben Cook. Villalobos scored 15 points along with six rebounds, while Cook scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Villalobos has scored all season. Isaiah Lathon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Micheal Chukwujigha was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds for Coconino. Chukwujigha hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Gavin Greene, who scored nine points.
Mingus has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Coconino, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
