The Manual Arts Toilers and the Franklin Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Manual Arts Toilers had to settle for second. Manual Arts' tough 41-16 defeat to Franklin might stick with them for a while.
Several Toilers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shaun Black, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 177 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Dominque Lamb, who gained 176 total yards.
It was another big night for Benjamin Villareal, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Eduardo Cuevas, who threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Manual Arts' loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Franklin, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1.
Manual Arts does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Franklin will take on King/Drew at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
