Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Mcnairy Central's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

McNairy Central owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hardin County Tigers with a sharp 8-0 win. Considering the Bobcats have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Bailee Shelton's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kenli Bingham and Carlee Shelton did most of the damage at the plate: Bingham went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Carlee scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Shelton has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Finlayson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

McNairy Central has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hardin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McNairy Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Jackson South Side at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hardin County will take on rival Lexington at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
