Fillmore is a perfect 7-0 against Hinsdale Central since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Fillmore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Fillmore took on Arkport Central on Monday. The Eagles fell 8-5 to the Bluejays.
Jared Boon was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, James Hillman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Hinsdale Central fell victim to Ellicottville and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 15-0 to the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Hinsdale Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Fillmore's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Hinsdale Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
Hinsdale Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fillmore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Hinsdale Central, though, as they've only averaged .197. Will they be able to contain Fillmore's hitters?
Everything went Fillmore's way against Hinsdale Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Fillmore made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
