Brentsville District extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 4-6. They fell 11-6 to the Kettle Run Cougars. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in June of 2025.
Natalie Marvin was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Cara Johnston was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
As for Kettle Run, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Kettle Run's side, Aaliyah Alexander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, Alexander is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Kettle Run let Abi Martin and Emerson Golden run wild. Martin got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Golden went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Knight, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
Looking ahead, Brentsville District will challenge Handley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Judges have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.89 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kettle Run, they will face off against James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
