The University City Centurions pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vista. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (58), University City still had to take the loss.
University City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ben Gavani, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Anzaldua bertholdo, who scored 16 points.
This is the second loss in a row for University City and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Vista, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6.
University City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canyon Crest Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Vista and Francis Parker will round out the year against one another at 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday at. Hopefully Francis Parker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Wednesday.
