St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is 9-1 against Landon since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Landon Bears at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Monday, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Riverdale Baptist.
The losing side was boosted by Riley Jacobs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Blake Neal, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Landon waltzed into their matchup last Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They pulled ahead with a 57-56 photo finish over St. Andrew's Episcopal. The victory was all the more spectacular given Landon's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while St. Andrew's Episcopal is ranked third).
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Landon, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, slipping by Landon 62-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Stephen's & St. Agnes since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
