The Rutherford Rams will take on the Taylor County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rutherford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 20 games.
Last Friday, Rutherford beat Rickards 48-40. That's two games straight that Rutherford has won by exactly eight points.
Rutherford had a senior duo take command as Shakirah Edwards scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks and Nautica Bouie scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bouie hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Ayonnie Houston was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Taylor County rose to the challenge on Monday. They snuck past the Buccaneers with a 37-32 win. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but Taylor County was the better team in the second half.
LeeAsia Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Taylor County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kourtney Jackson, who scored seven points.
Rutherford's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.8 points. As for Taylor County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season.
