The Natalia Mustangs's nine-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They put the hurt on Cotulla with a sharp 65-40 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Natalia has posted since November 30, 2023.
Anaya Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Yahdi Lujan, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals.
Natalia's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Cotulla, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Natalia will challenge Dilley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Cotulla, they will head out on the road to square off against Crystal City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal City will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
