Brooklyn is 4-0 against Wickliffe since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Brooklyn Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Brooklyn is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Brooklyn was the victim of a rough 56-32 loss at the hands of Cuyahoga Heights. While losing is never fun, Brooklyn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 690th, while Cuyahoga Heights is ranked 208th).
The losing side was boosted by Ashlyn Dyson, who scored 15 points. She scored a full 46.9% of Brooklyn's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Olivia Callahan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Brooklyn struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Wickliffe's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 37-20 to Crestwood. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wickliffe has scored all season.
Brooklyn bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Wickliffe, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Brooklyn strolled past Wickliffe in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 61-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brooklyn since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
