The Hightstown Rams scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They snuck past Shore Regional with a 63-57 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Shore Regional had strong showings from Reese Fiore, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Ava Coyle, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Kimi Sayson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Shore Regional struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Hightstown's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Shore Regional, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hightstown's road trip will continue as they head out to face Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Princeton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Hightstown is ranked 78th). As for Shore Regional, they will head out on the road to face off against Asbury Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Asbury Park comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
