Two dominant in Jasiah Jiron and Ziah Pesqueira are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Antonito Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Moffat Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Antonito focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.
Antonito suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Centennial, falling 82-38. Antonito has struggled against Centennial recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Octavian Martinez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jiron, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Moffat entered their tilt with Antonito with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Moffat took their matchup on the road last Friday with ease, bagging a 74-25 victory over Antonito. Moffat's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pesqueira was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Pesqueira is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Heater, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Antonito's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Moffat, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Saturday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Antonito have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Moffat struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 36.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
