Baseball Recap: Lake Highland Prep Find Success

Lake Highland Prep took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Father Lopez, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Father Lopez Green Wave on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted since April 4, 2024.

Oliver Dugan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Khalil, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Colin Jones was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lake Highland Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Father Lopez only posted a batting average of .276.
