In what's become a running theme this season, the Rocky River Pirates gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 61-26 win over Buckeye. With Rocky River ahead 48-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Rocky River can attribute much of their success to Olivia Dewey, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Dewey scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ava Patti, who scored 11 points.
Despite the loss, Buckeye saw an underclassman step up: Molly Danilovic scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Buckeye struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rocky River posted 15 assists.
Rocky River's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Buckeye, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky River won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Valley Forge at 6:45 p.m. on January 25th. Valley Forge is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Buckeye, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakewood at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakewood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Buckeye in Ohio (Lakewood is ranked 335th, while Buckeye is ranked 743rd).
