Medina Came Up Big in Cotulla's 40-8 Win
Starting off the list is Cotulla's Alex Medina, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Medina rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Cotulla is undefeated when Medina posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Cotulla pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Medina's next game is against Young Men's Leadership Academy on Friday, where he'll look to repeat that solid performance.

Poth pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Stover and Poth will be playing in front of their home fans against Natalia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Big Game from Gonzales As Nixon-Smiley Won 21-19
Garet Gonzales put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Gonzales is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Dilley on Friday. When Gonzales last faced the Wolves back in October of 2023, he rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.

While Karnes City might've come up empty on Friday, Savion Nixon-Thompson wasn't going down without a fight. Nixon-Thompson was unstoppable, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while also throwing for 137 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 61 yards.
For the year, Nixon-Thompson has thrown 8 touchdowns while averaging 114.1 passing yards per game.
