If the Hun Raiders were riding high off their 93-54 takedown of the Solebury Spartans last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hun fell 89-78 to Academy of the New Church on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bahsil Laster was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with nine assists and five rebounds for Academy of the New Church. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Tobe Nwobu, who scored 16 points.
Hun's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Academy of the New Church, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Hun will head out on the road to face off against Springside Chestnut Hill Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Academy of the New Church and Friends Select will face off at 12:30 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Friends Select has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
